Day 1
Meditation #2: Tuning In
Welcome to Day 1 of the 7 Day Challenge
Make sure to read everything below before starting your meditation. Enjoy!
Guidance
Have you ever wondered if there really is a way to receive direct guidance from the creator of the universe? Maybe you have overheard someone talking about it and thought they completely lost their mind. Or maybe you think it is possible but you have just messed up too many times for God to want to speak to you. Perhaps you already have experienced this and you are just looking to go deeper. Regardless of where you are, receiving divine guidance from our creator is a very real thing and it is available to all of us. It doesn’t matter what your background is, the horrible things you have done in your life, how many times you have messed up, or anything for that matter. God is waiting for you to seek him so that he can show you all the wonderful things he has in store for your life.
The Way In
In my experience, gratitude is one of the fastest paths, along with love and compassion, to communicating with our creator. By expressing true gratitude, our brains begin to release chemicals into our bodies that put us into a more relaxed and joyful state. As we slow our breathing down through meditation, and combine the new chemical reactions happening within our brains and bodies, we begin to slow our brain wave patterns down to what are called alpha brain waves and we enter a state of consciousness where we are able to receive divine guidance from God. We will go more into this in a later meditation, but this is vital to being receptive to “hearing God’s voice” which is in most cases a non-audible guiding voice.
Tuning In
God operates at a high energy frequency, which can actually be measured by scientists and resonates at the exact frequency of love, which is very close to the frequency of gratitude. This frequency is around 528hz. If we come to our meditation resonating at a low frequency vibration, feeling things such as fear, anxiety, worry, guilt, etc. we are not able to “tune in” to God’s frequency and simply put, we will be unable to receive any information. If you ever feel a dull or dead feeling with no aliveness, it is likely that you are operating at a low energy frequency. If you have never heard any of this before it may sound farfetched, but I assure you this is not only spiritually backed but is also understood by today’s leading quantum physicists.
True Gratitude
If you do not regularly express gratitude from the bottom of your heart, it may take some opening of the heart before true gratitude can be expressed. When I say “true gratitude”, I am talking about heart and mind coherence, where gratitude is not only a conscious thought but felt through every cell of our body. “Feeling” gratitude is much different than reading off a list of the things you should be grateful for.
When we live stressful lives, which as studies show over 75% of people report being under stress regularly, our bodies are flooded with cortisol, we end up going into fight or flight mode, and the coherence between our brain, heart, and body becomes severed. This is a topic for a later conversation, but just know that if you can’t “feel” gratitude during this meditation, it is likely because there is a disconnect between your brain and heart and this is not uncommon. The good news is that with practice, regardless of how long or the severity of the separation between the heart and mind, full coherence can be restored relatively fast. And it all starts with the following meditation.
Preparing For The Meditation
The primary purpose of this meditation is to search deep within ourselves to find all the things we have been blessed with in our lives. When we express gratitude, we become open to receiving and feeling the corresponding emotions of love, peace, and joy. As we begin to express gratitude more often, we will begin to experience more things in our life that we can be grateful for.
To prepare for this meditation, simply get comfortable and prepare to search deep within for all the things you have been blessed with.
The Meditation
Begin breathing in and out slowly and relaxing every muscle in your body. Try to keep your spine straight, but make sure you are very comfortable.
Begin to search deep within yourself for the things you are grateful for. When something comes to mind, take a moment to really let it sink in. Allow the thought to penetrate every cell of your body and see if you can feel the emotion within your body.
As you begin to go deeper into this feeling, notice the still space around you. If you notice a deep peace and feelings of love and joy, you are tuning in to the frequency where all the magic happens. Keep going deeper into this, not expecting anything, but continuing to offer gratitude and thanks. If another thought of gratitude emerges, follow the exact same process.
This experience will be unique to everyone. Some may stick with one thought for the entire meditation. Others might find it more natural to let the mind go and allow multiple thoughts to emerge. There is no right or wrong way to do this and both offer unique benefits. The main things we want to focus on are producing grateful thoughts and feeling the corresponding emotions of peace, love, and joy that come with them.
Scripture
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 19:14 – May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
1 Corinthians 2:12-14 – Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.
1 Corinthians 15:57 – We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.
Tips/Reminders
- Emotions are direct results of the thoughts we allow to go through our minds
- We can’t control our emotions, but we can control our thoughts
- Peace, love, and joy are emotions that are byproducts of thinking thoughts of gratitude and thankfulness
- We must not only think thoughts of gratitude, but we also must feel it within every cell of our body for the transformation to begin
