Meditation #3: Energy Follows Thought

Thoughts Are Energy
Have you ever considered the impact that your thoughts have on the way you feel or the external environment that surrounds you? As it turns out, most people are completely unaware of the energy that thoughts produce and the profound effect they have.
Thoughts, believe it or not, are energy and they have a much larger effect on you and those around you than you may have realized. You can easily test this yourself to see exactly what I am talking about. For a moment, picture yourself in your heaven, whatever that might be. Visualize with intense concentration and notice with detail everything that surrounds you. Notice the temperature and how it feels on your skin. See your surroundings with vivid detail. Notice any smells, tastes, sounds, etc. and focus intensely on everything that you are experiencing. How do you feel? If you concentrated hard enough, chances are you are experiencing positive emotions, even if they are very short lived.
Now take the opposite approach and picture yourself being held captive and all of your freedom being taken from you. Picture things the exact same way you did when you were visualizing your heaven and try to focus on your surroundings and the corresponding feelings with intense detail. Chances are you are feeling pretty crappy right about now.
It is extremely common for people to go through their days in complete misery and have no idea the power they hold to make a complete transformation with their thought alone. If you are looking to experience more abundance in your life it is vital to realize the impact your thoughts have on your overall well being. Your thoughts hold the keys to transmuting fear and worry into peace, love, and joy.
The Infinity Loop
We have all heard the term you reap what you sow, and I am sure many of us have uttered the phrase, “karma’s a _______________ at some point in our lives.” But did you know that the idea of reaping what you sow is actually biblical? Not only that, but it has become a popular topic among scientists in the recent years. As we advance in our understanding of quantum physics, scientists are beginning to study the cause and effects of not only our actions, but our thoughts and their effect on the external environment as well as on our internal well being.
The infinity loop is a term that explains this phenomenon, by understanding that what we feed into the loop is what we get in return. The idea is that the loop reacts according to what is fed into it. It does not favor one person over the other, the loop acts in direct accordance to what it is provided.
How you are currently feeling is a direct result of what you are feeding into the loop. If you are feeling happy, you are expressing thoughts of gratitude, thankfulness, love, etc. If you are experiencing an abundance of love, you have offered love in some way.
The same hold true with negative emotions. If you are experiencing fear, you are feeding fear into the loop through your thinking or actions. If you are experiencing a lack, whether material or emotionally, it is because you are constantly feeding thoughts of not having enough into the loop. If you are not feeling loved, you are not offering your love or compassion and therefore are receiving none in return.
The infinity loop is a universal law that is woven into the very fabric of our existence. No one, regardless of age, status, gender, etc. is free from this law and everyone on the planet abides by this law.
So, if you are experiencing an abundance of love, peace, and joy, keep up what you are doing because you are feeding positivity into the loop and therefore reaping the rewards as positive emotions and abundance. On the flip side, if you are experiencing negative emotions or a lack of anything, you might want to question what you are feeding into the loop.
Preparing For The Meditation
When preparing for this meditation, do an entire body and mind scan to gauge how you are currently feeling. Are you feeling down, sad, tired, fearful, stressed, angry, etc.? Or are you feeling energetic, alive, loving, peaceful, happy, joyous, etc.?
Once you have identified the emotions you are currently experiencing, try to pinpoint the thought patterns that have been going through your head. This may be obvious if you have had a particularly good or bad day, but it also may be much more subtle and hard to put your finger on. A good exercise for this is to trace back your events for the day and see if you can find an event that triggered you to start feeling the way you are currenlty feeling.
Often a single negative thought can stick with us and penetrate deep within our minds and bodies causing a toxic environment and a very unpleasant experience. These thoughts can be stored in our bodies for days and even weeks if not uncovered and brought to the light.
The Meditation
The previous mediation was all about finding things that we are grateful for. This meditation is similar, but rather than focusing on what we are grateful for, we are focusing our attention on the things that bring us joy. This could be plans for the future such as dreaming of goals that we wish to achieve, a vacation that we can’t wait to take, a nonprofit that we will start one day that will help a ton of people, finding love, etc. It could also be things we have accomplished or experiences from the past that bring us great joy. As well it could be things we are currently doing or working on that make us happy.
For this meditation, we are going to hyper-focus our thoughts on things that are positive and uplifting. If you have been having a very stressful or fearful day, it can be difficult to break the negative cycle of thought, but I urge you to push through as peace is just on the other side. If you have been having an energetic and uplifting day, pinpoint your thoughts and go deeper into them.
The purpose of this meditation is to understand the impact that our thoughts have on our emotions and to realize how quickly we can shift our thinking to change the way we feel. It is also to experience abundance right now.
Begin by calming your mind through your breath and relaxing your body. From here, begin thinking deeply about what brings you the greatest joy in your life. As mentioned above, this could be something that happened in the past, is happening right now, or something you have hopes for in the future. Feel free to laser your focus into one thing for the whole meditation or jump around to multiple things that bring you joy.
Scriptures
Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
Proverbs 4:23 – Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Psalm 139: 23-34 – Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.
Tips/Reminders
- Typically, we want to keep the mind under control for meditations, but if your mind starts jumping around (assuming the thoughts are all positive), let your mind go and see where it takes you
- Be sure thought that you give each thought adequate attention, focus, and time to allow it to penetrate into your body as well
- As long as you are experiencing positive emotions, you are doing this meditation perfectly
