Day 7
Meditation #13: The Missing Link
Welcome to Day 7 of the 7 Day Challenge
Make sure to read everything below before starting your meditation. Enjoy!
The Self Help Rabbit Hole
There is certainly no shortage of self help books and “miracle cures” for just about every topic imaginable. We have an endless supply of knowledge right at our fingertips and we don’t have to look far to find all of the resources this world has to offer. If you’re looking for someone to “fix” your problems, you can find therapists and self help gurus on every corner ready to swipe your card and offer you the same knowledge the self help books do.
While much of this information is very useful and, in my opinion, we should always be ready to upgrade our models of reality and learn new things, there comes a time when all the knowledge in the world simply can’t heal the wound. Therapists have helped many people uncover truths about themselves and are great resources if you are in a rut. Self help books and other related resources are great tools when used properly. However, there is a much faster route to self discovery and resolving our problems that most completely overlook.
The Ultimate Physician
While much of the world is rushing around frantically trying to solve their problems, some have taken the road less traveled and found the true key to unlocking their potential and removing any roadblocks from their life.
Rather than looking to the world to solve your problems, have you ever considered going straight to the source of all knowledge and wisdom?
While many overlook this obvious starting place, others have had many failed attempts of sending out prayers only to experience no significant change in their lives. The section below will help you to understand why this may be happening.
When Prayer Goes Unanswered
As we learned on day 4 of this challenge, God is waiting for us to take a leap of faith, rather than just sit back and wait for him to solve our problems. If your prayers have been going unanswered causing you to dismiss God as a potential option for fixing your problems, know that you are not alone, and God is not upset with you.
The Missing Link
Whether you have pushed God out of your life after a series of unanswered prayers or have never given him the chance, He is waiting for you develop a personal relationship with him and to deliver you from any trial you are facing. He is also the missing link if you are not feeling a sense of purpose in life.
If you are facing prolonged trials or you are just feeling like something is missing from your life and can’t put your finger on what it is, consider that God may be what is missing from your life. Many don’t realize, but the missing piece in our lives, that feeling of unfulfillment, comes from being disconnected with our source. No matter what we accomplish in this life, we will always feel that something in our lives is incomplete if we do not have an intimate relationship with our creator. God knows how tough it is on us when we are separated from him and he is waiting for us to come home and develop a relationship with Him.
Living In Harmony
We were intended to live in harmony with our creator and continually receive divine guidance. If this connection is severed, we will always feel as if something is missing. We can temporarily fill the void by staying busy or drowning out our inner voice crying for help with booze or drugs, but these feelings will never go away. They will simply be pushed to the side and at some point, will have to be confronted.
If you don’t feel like your life is flowing in a perfect harmonious balance, consider that the missing piece just may be a separation from your source.
Preparing For The Meditation
This meditation is designed to connect with your creator. Although many of the meditations in this challenge were designed to do something similar, this one will be hyper focused on feeling an intimate connection.
The only thing you need to do to prepare for this meditation is to consider your life and whether you have a feeling that something may be missing. You do not have to believe that God is the missing link, you just have to be open to the idea that it could be possible.
The Meditation
As usual, relax every muscle in your body and breathe slowly to calm your nerves and slow your brain down. Getting into a calm and meditative state, free of distractions and negative thoughts is vital for this meditation.
We are going to invite God in by saying something similar to the following:
“God, something is missing in my life and if it is you, I am asking that you show me.”
“God, I am open to the idea that you may be the missing link in my life.”
We aren’t necessarily focusing on receiving divine guidance here, we are more focused on our emotions and feeling a “presence”. This feeling will be anything from unconditional love, to peaceful bliss, to unexplainable joy, to a strong sense of purpose, to a deep sense of unity and that all things are connected, to comfort, etc. If you feel a strong sense of any of these or similar emotions, you are beginning to experience the presence of God. Keep going deeper and enjoy the experience!
Scriptures
John 15: 4-7 – Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
Acts 17: 27 – God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.
Matthew 6:33 – But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Isaiah 30:21 – Your own ears will hear Him. Right behind you a voice will say, ‘This is the way you should go,’ whether to the right or to the left.”
